Aladdin-esque fantasy female costumeby ~antillies

DESIGN MINE DO NOT STEAL/USE/REPLICATE

I made this over Christmas break 2012-13 but I had had the general design done for a long time before that.
For the pants and the vest I used a Simplicity pattern. I didn\'t change the vest at all, but I added a front zipper fly on the pants, made the waistband button in the front instead of the back and added two buttons, and added the tassle-trim to the sides.
For the top I used the bodice of a drop-waisted dress my mom had. This was a but tricky because since the pattern had been used before, I only had pattern pieces for one size too big and one size too small. I ended up using the front and back pieces from the smaller size and the side pieces from the larger size, but that turned out to be too big so I took it in 2 inches on each side seam (1 inch per side piece) at my waist but merged the new seam with the existing one at the waist seam (which was lower than my waist) and the arm-hole.
Also on the top, I altered the neckline from a collar-bone-high crew neck to a princess neckline. I made it a little too high in my opinion. I think an inch or so lower would\'ve looked better, but I\'ll probably just leave it as-is. Also, since I altered the neckline I also had to alter the front facing, but that\'s small potatoes. I just had to trace the new neckline to get the right shape.
For the fabric, I used stuff that was lying around (though I got the pants fabric last Christmas). Everything except the red is heavy upholstery fabric, so only the red fabric is interfaced (to make the weights even). I also had the tassel and the green trim lying around.

If you "watch" me, you know this already probably, but my camera sucks and all the lighting here is really yellow, so I always have to color-edit the pics I take of my stuff in order to make it look like it does irl.
